America's Cat Problem

These stray cats are very self sufficient and excellent hunters. It is because of this that they are able to live alone in the wild. Feral cats are capable of surprising things and are not to be messed with. If you catch a stray cat you should take it to your local animal shelter. If it’s tame enough, they will put it up for adoption, if not they will put it to ‘sleep’. This is the unfortunate situation that America’s cat problem has put veterinarians in, but “The Price is Right’s” Bob Barker is right, you need to have your cats spayed or neutered.

You need to be careful if a feral cat makes a home inside your backyard or under your deck. Feral cats are dangerous to humans and other domestic cats because they can transmit diseases (fatal and non-fatal) such as feline leukemia, plague, rabies, ringworm, cat scratch fever, allergies, feline distemper, and secondary bacterial infections.
